Tomorrow is the day to get this party started.
Ingrid is my training instructor. She teaches 2 circuit training classes and a spinning class each week where each one reduces me to a puddle of sweat. Quite frankly, I would not be ready or able to attempt this massive effort without her training and support.
My goal is to take another picture of this banner at Uhuru Peak - the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
To get an idea of Ingrid's energy, positivity and love of fitness you gotta check out her Facebook page.
Once this adventure is over, I'll be back in her classes to keep working on my fitness goals: balance, flexibility, endurance, strength. I'm still pretty bad at all of those at the moment. I'm retired so I've got a lot of free time to work on self improvement stuff. After 40 years of sitting in front of a computer, I'm pretty much a disaster.
So I'm trying to figure out my "thing". I've decided I'll never be a golf guy. And Sue has a solid bet I'll never get on a pickleball court. It's just not for me. Alpaca rancher is just going to be a long shot.
So it's WAY too early to even think about the next adventure. First things first. Let's see where this one goes.
As Sue and I jokingly say (or maybe not a joke for her), I have life insurance. If one of these adventures goes sideways, I can't limp back home. Life insurance only pays when, well, let's just say there's no more limping. I'm going to need to die to get the payout on the policy. Then she will live like a queen. That's the kind of (dark) humor being married for 32 years gives you. Today is our 32nd year anniversary.
She is my favorite beneficiary.
Just so you know, I was advised that internet service on the mountain is sketchy at best so there may be real-time gaps in my postings but I'll be sure to keep a log and take some cool pictures so I can assemble them when I finally descend back to civilization. I'll do my best but I'm going to be pretty busy just trying to keep up with our small team (3 climber + 12 support porters).
I'll be heading to Orlando (MCO) tomorrow afternoon to start my trip to Tanzania.
It's been a busy week... but I'm ready now.

Have a great climb!!
